You may have seen a strange shop assignment enter your email inbox recently. Likely you did a double-take as you read the shop details. Yes, this “shop” requires you to actually visit a specific gravesite and perform maintenance. While this may sound like a strange way to make a few extra bucks, you can rest assured that you have accomplished a good deed for the day. In addition to padding your wallet with some extra cash, you are also helping a family ensure that the final resting place of their loved one is well cared for and clean, even when the family is too far way to do it themselves.
What Are The Details? As with other kinds of shops, the details of a gravesite shop may vary from shop to shop. However, generally speaking, you will be given the name of the deceased as well as the cemetery in which to locate the gravesite. It will be your job to first locate the gravesite within that cemetery, using the resources available at the cemetery. Then, the shop requirements may ask that you ensure the gravesite is well cared for by performing small maintenance items such as pulling weeds and such.
Your job may also be to deliver flowers to the gravesite on behalf of the distant family members. You may be required to purchases these flowers yourself with the funds reimbursed to you with your shop pay, or the flowers may be shipped directly to your house on the day you are to perform the shop.
To ensure the shop has been completed, you will be asked to take several photos of the gravesite. The photos should show that you have located the correct gravesite, any flowers have been placed in front of the gravesite, and proper maintenance of the gravesite has taken place. So you will typically need a digital camera to complete a gravesite shop.
What’s In It For You? This type of shop may pay slightly better than your typical shop. And, in many cases, a cemetery may be located off the beaten path and you may be able to request travel pay if it is not already provided. So while the type of shop itself may seem like a depressing way to spend your day, it may be financially rewarding.
In addition to financial compensation, though, you may find a graveyard shop has more personal satisfaction in it than your normal shop. In most cases, the person ordering the shop is a distant family member of the deceased, someone who cared about the deceased immensely but is too far away from the gravesite to ensure regular maintenance is being performed. By performing this shop, you are giving that person the knowledge that their beloved family member is being cared for even in death.
Your first impulse on receiving this type of shop in your inbox may be to instantly pass on it. It is, after all, an unusual request. However, give the shop a second thought and you may just find that it will be both financially and personally rewarding to you.
I have completed two of these shops and pay aside they were by far the best I could ask for. You feel a special connection to the person whose site your are doing maintenance on and over all feel great for helping the family and friends remember the person. Minimal work is required for such an awesome warm feeling. I received my request from Insite and Intelishop. Try the link below …

This is an interesting concept. I am registered with InteliShop, but I’ve yet to visit their Jobs page, for listings. I may be motivated at this point. Thank you for the 4~1~1.
This is a great idea. I’ve not seen any of the emails or shops & would love to do this. I belong to findagrave.com because I do genealogy and will get requests from people thru there to locate and take pics of their relatives graves, but never to maintain it or put flowers on them. (you can put virtual flowers on this site) I like this idea.
This is not intellishop but insite. If you do not cut the grass to their satisfaction, they donot pay you. Pass on these guys.
I would be interested in performing these assignments. I have not seen any invitations for such studies in my inbox and I don’t know how to apply for them.
I also do genealogy and this would be a shopping job that I would take in a heartbeat! I will definately look into where I can sign up for these jobs.
I have lived across from a cemetery all of my life and I often take care of gravesites of people who do not live in town. This sounds like something I would be interested in doing because I understand what it takes to keep our cemetery in good condition. I went to Intellishop and sign up to see if I would be able to get new and different jobs.
So WHY does the Mavan post this type of artical with out giving out the job sights? How does this help us work.E
I have received that shop offer twice and requested it because it was at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St Petersburg,FL. It’s about 4 miles from me but it wasn’t given to me. I would do any of them.
I was able to complete one of these shops in June. It is a GREAT assignment. Your helping out families that for some reason cannot do this for themselves. The guidelines are very strict and precise, but if you take your time and make sure they are all followed you will get your “10” and your pay…not to mention a whole lot more satisfaction than having another egg sandwich and ice coffee!!
I would like to perform this shop.
Is there anyway I can obtain more
information ?
I live in Philadelphia, Penna.
Thank you
This is quite interesting. Many grave sites are left unattended for one reason or another. I find it quite satisfying to hear how some of you automatically tend these sites. I find it equally fascinating that people can find these jobs on mystery shopping companies job boards.
They are there Cher. And you can always search the internet for different kinds of shops outside of the norm.
I do a lot of searching on the internet for things I think I would be intersted in doing as a “mystery shopper” I generally take one day a week and search using words like “graveyard” mystery shopping or “graveyard” assessement and management.
I just used “graveyard” as an example of the searching I do on the internet. I search everything I can think of to find some really unique shops.

I did not have to cut grass or do any major maintenance outside of making sure the site was clean and the flowers and other memorial items were standing and in nice shape(clean)…easiest money I’ve made in a while and the feeling you get from helping someone is the best benefit!
I made $50 on one visit and the other was $30. Great scenic drive there and less than 20 min work. Definate thumbs up!!!
I would be most interested in offering my services on this type of shop. Send information, I’d like to apply.
Please send links to shops.
I am interested in this type of shop because I used to sell funerals and cemetery property. Therefore I know my way around all the problems that can occur in such an environment.
Sounds good to me!
I could this in the Chicago area.
Any ideas?

I now live in a town where my ancestors go back to 1818. I have already visited some of the cemeterys looking for their graves and trying to trace more of my ancestry. When I go to the cemetery I pick up flowers I see fallen over, so this would also help me in my search.
