It’s not too difficult to find yourself burnt out from mystery shopping. After all, with the relatively low pay coupled with the stress of completing assignments on time, working with difficult schedulers and providers, and all of the various issues that can arise during the site visit, it is pretty easy to lose sight of the benefits of mystery shopping. One of the top perks of mystery shopping is being able to select “fun” assignments. If you find yourself getting burnt out with mystery shopping, give yourself a mystery shopping-style boost with these fun assignments:
It’s A New Car. For many people, the only fun part of buying a new car is test driving all of the new models on the market. With one of the many car dealership assignments, you can find yourself behind the wheel of new cars. You may have to play the part of a potential car buyer, but the stress and hassle of negotiating with car salesmen over price and financing is eliminated. With a car dealership assignment, you get all of the perks of new car shopping without the hassle or stress. What’s more, you actually get paid to do something most people love – test driving new cars!
Grab A Bite To Eat. There seems to be no end to the number of restaurant assignments available on the job boards. Whether the assignment is for an early morning coffee shop site visit, a mid-day lunch at a fast food joint, or an elegant evening dinner at a fine dining establishment, you can easily find the perfect assignment that suits your style and your taste buds. What’s more, you can usually bring a friend or family member along with you. There is no finer way to earn a few extra bucks than with a complimentary meal shared between friends or family!
A Complete Mind And Body Experience. There are a variety of assignments available located at different types of spas, which give you reimbursements on treatments ranging from facials, manicures, and pedicures, to wraps and massages. These assignments may be located as day spas, beauty salons, spa resorts, and other such venues. Because these venues are located just as often on the outskirts of metro areas and in rural destinations as they are in the heart of big cities, you should expand your search territory on the job boards to ensure you see all of the spa assignments available.
An Overnight Affair. If you really want to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing night in a hotel, look for one of the many assignments at a hotel. These hotel assignments may be in your own hometown, or in a nearby metro area. If you would consider traveling to nearby metro areas for a hotel assignment, be sure you have these areas selected on your job board search criteria. Often hotel assignments will be for one or two nights, and you will be required to complete certain tasks while you are in the room. However, you often will have plenty of free time to explore the city or relax in the comfort of your room as well.
Add some spice to mystery shopping by including some of these fun assignments in your work schedule!
Who has the hotel and high end restaurants? I find them few and far between and I live in a major metro.
Ibid what rivka said….I am having one heck of a time finding assignments such as you describe. I’d give my eye teeth to have a hotel assignment, as I used to work in Sales at 3 different hotels. Where to find them? No company I have worked for (Confero or sassie) have had any kind of this work on their job board) if I can even get to their job boards without help from my Mystery Shopper liaison. thanks for the opportunity to voice this. I’ve lived too long to think I’m the only one finding roadblocks without instructions on how to proceed to get my question answered as all the sites don’t offer any choice or place for me to ask a specific quesiton about how they work. for lack of what else to call her, my “sponsor” for that company offers help….
Freemans Group on Prophet or archdev has overnight hotel and Person to Person quality a prophet company also has the car assignments. i don’t think that I’ll get into controversial areas if I give you guys this info?
Freeman has some Hotel/Motel shops, but I’ve experienced long pay delays. What I would like to find is a web site where you enter the business name and find out who the secret shop company is… Any ideas???
I have done many restaurant shops and really do enjoy them, the reports are usually pretty long and some can be complicated but it is a fun thing to do with a friend or your hubby. They usually pay pretty well too.
I am very interested in mystery shopping in my area if the pay is reasonable. I did this in the past and was pretty good at it and enjoyed it. Contact me if you need someone in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Thank you
I am interested in mystery shopping in Dallas, Texas. I actually live in Irving, TX and could go to Dallas or Ft. Worth and any of their suburbs.
I would love to do more mystery shopping. Most of the “jobs” I have come across are scams. Any valid ideas? I have done some—but I got them through a job agency.
Try Coyle Hospitality. They do Higher End restaurants and Hotels in Metro Areas…
Many thanks to everyone for their candid responses. As Christa has written I wish to also voice my gratitude for this forum to do Q/A. Additionally, the websites,
Kim@mysteryshoponline.com with MysteryShopMaven.com have provided insightful advice to assist me in my attempt to navigate through this curious new realm of “mystery” job opportunities. Currently I am registered on a few sites.
I have not as yet taken a mystery assignment of any type. My question is related to personal experience issues. Does anyone have comments r/t mystery assignment sites that have clients who are interested in monitoring levels of ADA (Americans With Disabilities) compliance within varied businesses &/or their everyday practices? Examples might include access to structures, bathrooms, offering assistance with tasks once patron is on site, availability of wheel chairs or mobility carts etc. The conversations regarding hotels tweeked my interest; thanks Liz for the Coyle Hospitality tip.
Try Freeman Group…
Right… I have also worked with Freeman but reimbursement takes a loooong while. I find, though, that they are well organized and is easy to reach the Scheduler when you have questions.
I was recently scamed by a fraudulent person claiming to be an emplyee for a mystery shopper on line. I was sent a 3,410.00 check and immediately knew it was fraudulent. I turned it over to my bank and the check was immediatly sent to fraud investigations. I would love to be an authentic mystery shopper.
Try data quest for hotels. They have some high end and mid end. Dataquestonline.com. Also. A closer look has some hotel. Both companies have been good to me
I’ve been a Shopper since February this year. Most of my shops have been banks. Since I live in a rural area, I find I spend a big part of my earnings on gas. The shops are easy, but the reports are lengthy, with MUCH repitition. It’s been easy to earn 300.-500.$ in a month with these shops.
I would like to know where to go to find Cemetery Shops, as I’d like a change. I’ve heard/ read that they can pay well, and it sounds interesting, as I like to explore.
